Welcome to the Iraqi Commercial Attaché
Our Mission
The Iraqi Commercial Attaché is part of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, and operates under its umbrella, but it is affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce/Department of Foreign Economic Relations in the capital, Baghdad.
The democratically elected government of Iraq believes that the most important factors for global and regional stability are through balanced and stable economic and trade relations, and that economic development is the most important component of a modern state, and economic development cannot be achieved without a private sector that possesses experience and flexibility in dealing with global economic variables.
The Iraqi government views the United States of America as a true partner, not only in political and security issues. Rather, economic and trade relations have priority as they have the greatest impact on the interests of the two countries and the rapprochement between the two friendly peoples.
The legal framework that frames the economic and trade relations between our two countries is the Strategic Framework Agreement / Section Five signed in 2008, in addition to the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) signed in 2005.
We here at the Commercial Mission are responsible for following up on economic and trade relations between Iraq and the United States of America, as this attaché, within the framework of the comprehensive vision of the Iraqi government and the vision of the Ministry of Commerce, works to enhance economic and commercial cooperation through communication with American government institutions, private sector organizations, and American companies.
This website aims to provide you with the most important information that the business community in the United States of America needs about Iraq, and in the event of any inquiries related to economic and trade cooperation with Iraq, you can contact us directly, and we will be more than happy to meet your needs.
